Drug seizures in the European Union in 2021

Two stacked column charts side by side showing number and quantity of drugs seized in 2021. Cannabis is by far the most seized drug in terms of numbers (almost 450000 seizures), followed by cocaine (67000 seizures). Over 1000 tonnes of cannabis were seized in 2021 and approx 300 tonnes of cocaine (other drugs are significantly less).

Map showing prevalence of cannabis use among young people in the last year in Europe. Cannabis uses broadly ranges from 5 to over 20 percent depending on the country.

Map showing prevelance of cocaine use among young adults in Europe for the most recent year. Cocaine is seen with higher prevalence in countries in the west of Europe and slighly lower in the East. These data however need to be treated with caution.

Largest values in Belgium and the Netherlands, as well as parts of Spain and Germany. A majority of values would appear to have increased but caution is needed when interpreting this data.
