EMCDDA initial report on the new psychoactive substance 1-(3-chlorophenyl)-2-(methylamino)propan-1-one (3-chloromethcathinone, 3-CMC)
Introduction
3-CMC is a synthetic cathinone monitored by the EMCDDA as a new psychoactive substance through the European Union Early Warning System since 2014. Based on potential public health risks, an initial report has been prepared and submitted to the Commission and the Member States, in accordance with Article 5b of Regulation (EC) No 1920/2006 (as amended). Its purpose is to provide scientific evidence to the Commission to allow it to make an informed decision regarding whether or not there is a need to request a risk assessment on a new psychoactive substance.
