Scientific analyst, Health and social responses (drug prevention) (AD.2024.12 )

Position

The position we are recruiting for is situated within the Public health unit, and the selected candidate will be reporting to the Head of sector health and social responses, under the supervision of Head of the substance, harms and responses unit.

The job holder will contribute to objectives and outputs that further enhance and promote the scientific competencies of the EUDA in the area of prevention of drug use and its consequences, including in the areas of health promotion, crime prevention and social responses to drug-related harms, in a systematic and integrated approach. Environmental, community-based, universal, selected and indicated prevention, early intervention and health promotion are key areas of focus. The job holder will be working within the framework of the EUDA’s mandate, responsible for implementing work programme activities, both sector-related and transversal.

Eligibility requirements

• Be a national of one of the Member States of the European Union, Norway or Türkiye;

• Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by the laws concerning military service, if applicable;
• Produce the appropriate character references as to the suitability for the performance of the required duties;
• Be physically fit to perform the duties of the post.
• A level of education that corresponds to completed university studies of at least three years attested by a diploma.
• Have at least three years of relevant professional experience starting with the first position occupied after the completion of the diploma or certificate required for admission to this selection procedure, as mentioned above.
• Possess a thorough knowledge (mother tongue or minimum level C1) of one of the official languages of the European Union and, a proven satisfactory knowledge (minimum level B2) of another of these languages to the extent necessary for the performance of the required duties.

Essential requirements  

1. University degree or postgraduate degree in a relevant field such as medicine, public health, epidemiology, biology, psychology, sociology, science of education, etc. Please indicate your university level (EFQ 6-8);
2. At least three years’ experience leading or significantly contributing to prevention-related activities;
3. Excellent understanding of the health and social issues in the area of drug-related interventions;
4. Demonstrated experience in implementing quality assurance in prevention interventions;
5. Proven ability to review, summarise and synthesise evidence in prevention research or related areas;
6. A track record of publishing high-quality technical and scientific papers and reports in English (please send links);
7. Experience working in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment;
8. Excellent written English.
