Visit of UN Commissioner for Human Rights and Portuguese Minister of Health
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, and Portuguese Minister of Health, Marta Temido, visited the EMCDDA today, where they met EMCDDA Director Alexis Goosdeel, who provided them with an overview on the European drug situation. The importance of treating drug users with dignity, through the provision of treatment and harm reduction measures was highlighted in the discussions. Ms Bachelet was in Portugal to open the International Harm Reduction Conference in Porto (28 April to 1 May).
