Prison and drugs: increasing the preparedness of prisons to address the drug phenomenon
This meeting is organised under the EUDA’s one-year presidency of the EU Justice and Home Affairs Agencies’ Network (JHAAN). Under the theme “One Safety — building preparedness and resilient communities”, the presidency promotes a cross-sector, integrated approach to building a safer, fairer and more resilient EU.
The objectives of this meeting are to discuss how to:
- strengthen monitoring by using existing data collection tools
- improve prison preparedness by identifying new data sources
- address key health and security issues related to drugs in prison settings, such as comorbidity and drug trafficking
- promote the implementation of effective, evidence‑based interventions in prisons
- support training and competence development by reinforcing synergies between countries and international organisations
- ensure better preparedness for emerging and future challenges.
