EMCDDA Director Alexis Goosdeel is at the European Parliament today where he will be presenting the European Drug Report 2023: Trends and Developments (EDR 2023) to members of the Committee for Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE).
An exchange of views following the presentation will include interventions from Professor Meni Malliori, representative of the European Parliament on the EMCDDA Management Board, and Ms Iga Jeziorska, member of the core group of the Civil Society Forum on Drugs (CSFD).
Based on data from 29 countries (EU 27, Türkiye and Norway), the EDR 2023 delivers the latest overview of the drug situation in Europe, exploring long-term trends and emerging threats. The comprehensive analysis covers drug use and supply as well as drug-related harms and responses to them.
Since its launch on 16 June, the EDR 2023 has been viewed approximately every minute. An overview is now available in 25 languages. For the first time, the report is presented in a new modular digital-first format, offering innovative ways to access and interact with the content.
Also at today's meeting, Mr Olivier Onidi, Deputy Director for Migration and Home Affairs at the European Commission, will be presenting the ‘Communication from the Commission to the European Parliament and the Council on the EU roadmap to fight trafficking and organised crime'.
The meeting will be livestreamed from 14.30 to 15.30 (CET): https://multimedia.europarl.europa.eu/en/webstreaming/libe-committee-meeting_20231127-1430-COMMITTEE-LIBE
