The EUDA and the Greek Reitox national focal point are co-hosting this week in Athens the annual meeting of the Project Advisory Committee (PAC) of the EU4Monitoring Drugs II (EU4MD II) project (1).
Kicking off today, the two-day event brings together representatives from 13 European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) partner countries, the European Commission and EUDA staff to review progress and plan strategic priorities for 2026–2027.
The theme of this year’s meeting — Strengthening cooperation with civil society to enhance preparedness across the ENP region — reflects the priorities of the new EUDA International Cooperation Framework (ICF) and the agency’s expanded mandate to promote global partnerships and inclusive, evidence-based drug policies (2).
For the first time, the PAC meeting will open its doors to civil society partners from across the ENP region. Their participation underlines the project’s commitment to enhancing cooperation between institutional partners and actors on the ground, such as service providers and community workers in the areas of prevention, harm reduction and treatment.
Over the two days, participants will review achievements to date, present the results of national surveys and studies, identify priorities and explore opportunities to further enhance national and regional drug monitoring and response systems.
The Greek national focal point will present its inclusive national drug information system, demonstrating how cooperation with community actors can improve preparedness, responses and resilience in the face of evolving drug trends.
This milestone meeting highlights that, by working together on data collection, capacity building and community engagement, all partners — governmental and non-governmental alike — can strengthen preparedness for drug-related security and health threats across the ENP region.
