World Energy Efficiency Day: EUDA joins EU environmental performance scheme

On World Energy Efficiency Day, we are delighted to announce that the EUDA has been officially registered under the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), in recognition of its commitment to reducing its environmental impact.

EMAS is the EU voluntary instrument for environmental management and auditing, which allows organisations to evaluate, report on, and continuously improve their environmental performance. Registration is valid for three years and can be renewed following a successful reassessment.

Environmental management has been an integral part of our operations for over a decade. This means making everyday choices that reduce our environmental footprint, from how we use energy and manage our buildings to how we travel, procure goods and engage staff in green initiatives. It also means setting measurable targets, monitoring progress and reporting transparently on results.

Commenting on the achievement, EUDA Executive Director Dr Lorraine Nolan said: ‘EMAS registration is an important milestone for the EUDA and a clear recognition of our commitment to minimising our environmental impact. It reflects the sustained efforts of our staff to embed sustainability into our daily practices and into long-term planning. We remain committed to further strengthening our environmental performance in the years ahead’.

The registration is based on our latest environmental statement which assesses EUDA performance in this area between January 2024 and April 2025.

The EUDA joins a growing number of EU agencies registered under the EMAS framework and working to advance sustainability across the EU institutional landscape.
