EMCDDA Director Alexis Goosdeel is in Tirana today where he will meet representatives of the Albanian Government, the EU delegation to Albania and civil society. The EMCDDA has been cooperating with Albania for over 15 years. It currently cooperates with the country under the latest EU-funded Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance project (IPA8).

IPA8 was launched in January 2023 and runs until December 2026. The overall goal of the project is to promote and support the uptake by the Western Balkans of EU best practices and approaches in the areas of health and security. It also aims to strengthen the strategic and operational cooperation within the Western Balkans and between the region and the EU in the drug monitoring and information area, using EU standards and tools.
