Our partner in North Macedonia
The EUDA has a technical cooperation project in North Macedonia since 2007. The focal point is located within the Ministry of Health. The current national drugs strategy of North Macedonia covers the period 2014–20. The country also conducted in 2017, a general population survey and has participated in other (school) surveys on drug-use prevalence.

On this page you can find links to outputs and resources from the European Web Survey on Drugs (EWSD) 2024. The European Web Survey on Drugs collected data between May and July 2024 from people who use drugs, aged 18 or older, living in EU and non-EU countries.

This data factsheet presents insights from the European Web Survey on Drugs 2024. It provides an overview of key data from 4 442 individuals aged 18 or older who use drugs and live in the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia).

The IPA data sheets present the most recent drug-related data for EU candidates in the Western Balkans. Since 2008, the European Drugs Agency (EUDA) has worked with EU candidate and potential candidates through projects funded by the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA).

This report presents a comprehensive analysis of the drug situation in the Western Balkans focused on health and security aspects.

The Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia) registered the main waves of COVID-19 infections later than most of the EU countries, but containment strategies were implemented at the same time and with equal force as in the rest of Europe.
